Sewage System To Start Construction in Boeung Kak Soon

Monday, 08 Aug 2011 09:41
Since the Boeung Kak Development Zone inaugurated on July 11, 2011 the technical standard system within this area had been highly considered by relevant agencies such as local authority and Sukaku Inc. Thus, there was a meeting at the Capital Hall on August 04, 2011 chaired by Mr. CHREANG Sophan, Deputy Governor and participated by related officers from concerned agencies to discuss on the existing sewage system linked to Boeung Kak area. It would be highlighted that, some institutions located along Monivong Blvd. such as Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWA), the Ministry of Information, Calmette Hospital, and Phnom Penh Hotel had their drainage system connected to Boeung Kak area. However, since the first announcement of the Capital Hall, PPWA had already diverted its sewage system from the lake in early 2011.
According to its development plan, the company would start its drainage system installation within the whole area very soon. Therefore, in order to start this work, the Capital Hall requested all related bodies to transfer its drainage/sewage system to the one built along Monivong Blvd. which linked to the Japanese’s Grant Aids Project for Flood Protection Phase 2. Moreover, to facilitate the technical aspects of concerned agencies, the Capital Hall instructed the Department of Public Works and Transport, particularly the Drainage and Pumping Division to study on this proposal and submit at least 3 options to the Governor.
Besides, Mr. Deputy Governor had requested Calmette Hospital to conduct a survey on its sewage system within the compound in advance since the waste from this place needs to be properly filtered before release those waste water into the main system. Moreover, the Department of Public Works and Transport should estimate the cost as soon as possible so that relevant institutions have more time to consider their contribution especially the contribution from Sukaku Inc. As part of the project plan, the sewage/drainage system within the Lake area is to be constructed with a high tech treatment pond before transferring all the water to Bak Touk Canal.
